since this seems to be one of the more reasonable boards, i want to ask for feedback. i'm feeling cursed and wondered if any of these things happen to anyone else; these are a few examples reflecting why i feel this "curse". 1) banks have been doing well but missed runup last week when jamie dimon announced results of stress test 2 days before government was set to release - planned on 5000 shares of BAC at or about $8.10; it went of $10 and i'm out 10k. 2) at end of 2nd day when stock had run up to $9 but pulled back to $8.75, i tried to go in, but my internet went down. 3)today, noticed that new stock ET got a big bumb off $25.60 so i watched it and was prepared to pump in if another wave of big buying. all the sudden my trading platform went down and wouldn't reload - in the meantime, the stock ran up to $29.99 and i was prepared to go in 1000 shares. time after time after time this kind of shi.t happens with different computers and at different locations. this is no joke, again and again i've watch a stock run and said to myself, I can make it stop by buying, and sure enough it does. lost $50 on CAT and $150 on GMCR just this last week doing that (bought at $57.41 on wednesday)
if i buy an apple and it works, something else will arise; internet will go down, sudden urgent need for the bathroom just as you see your entry point, someone yells in urgency needing you only to find that they lost their justine beiber homepage, jaime dimon at JPM thinks he's above everyone and prematurely announces results of bank stress test etc.
if god hates you, you are screwed. on 3-23-12, my 3 day old p.c. crashed at 2:30 e.t. i ran to the store and exchanged it and was back and had it set up by 3:30 et. i waited for the close of after-hours trading for anticipated AAPL pull-back to $395.4; as the ask dropped to that bid i went to enter my order and the new p.c. - restarted in time to see all bid/ask prices drop off level 11. truly i am cursed. if god is against you, who can help you? being cursed really sux.
yes, it happens to me too.
very bizarre weird things.
it happened Friday, my internet connection failed, by the time I rebooted it back up, the stock i was trading had reversed turning a gain into a major loss.
have you ever heard of buying and holding your investment for a little while? stop tryign to time the market and day trade. it won't work for the retail investor. buy something and be patient. set a profit point away from current price if you like the company and wait. when it reaches your price, sell and make some money. if you continue to get in and out, you will lose. there are few who can achieve success all the time. retail almost never can.
