FMCS Statement on Mediation Between the Boeing Company And the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service Director George H. Cohen issued the following statement today on the ongoing labor negotiations between the Boeing Company and the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace:
“At the request of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, negotiations between The Boeing Company and the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA), IFPTE Local 2001 are being suspended until after the first of the year. Both sides agreed to this mediator request.”
“In the interim, the FMCS will be in discussion with the parties to schedule resumption of negotiations.”
It makes sense
to postpone mediation
till January. It is
impossible to gauge
takes place in Congress.
Should Congress fail
to pass a tax and
spending bill Boeing
will be a direct victim
and fall over the
fiscal cliff, being hit by
an across the board
defense spending cuts.
boeing gets federal mediators.mediators request suspension til Jan.speaa and oh boeing agrees.speea better wise up and save their money,i think boeing is hoping they spend it during the holidays and wont be prepared for long strike,if any at all. Be wise speea UAW folded for a substandard contract when it was all said and done.
Actually, it was SPEEA who first contacted the federal mediators, not Boeing.
"i think boeing is hoping they spend it during the holidays and wont be prepared for long strike,if any at all."
Aint gonna happen ... Talk about wishful thinking. Jesus. We're MUCH smarter than Boeing believes. We saw this coming YEARS AGO and are prepared for a long strike like nobody's business. One engineer I work with told me she and her family have over 30 grand sitting in a strike fund. I've heard similar stories from several other engineers and I can strike indefinitely. The strike in 2000 lasted 40 days. This one will be longer and it will be Boeing that will eventually cave. As in 2000, the financial losses and pressure on Boeing from Wall Street, stockholders, the airlines and other customers will rapidly mount until it reaches a point where the company can't withstand it any longer. All we have to do is have a way to pay the bills for a few months, which is a piece of cake when you've spent the last several years preparing. Go ahead Boeing, make our day. We're all looking forward to a nice, long vacation. : )
