Boeing is overwhelmed with their current and future production rate of their 737 and 777 aircraft in Washington. Boeing is looking at making South Carolina 787 town. The land that they bought is for future production of the 787!
It may also be home for the new 777 or backup for production if plants in washington run into labor problems.
About the same way they dealt with the building of the south carolina plant. They dont like it but they see the reality of international competition taking their jobs away.
