is QIHU fraud or not? Where's the smoking gun?

There is a lot of rumor and innuendo, but no one has shown any real "smoking gun". Just because a company does business in China doesn't mean they are fraud.

Qihu is a great company, that's why they can sell text links for $30,000 per month, where here in the US, even if its a Google page rank 9 or 10, you can only sell a text link for $1000 - $3000 per month.

Most people think text link are bought for click thru traffic, but the people in the know, like myself, know better. These text link are purchased in order to play Google or Bidu algorithms, so that your website shows up higher on the free search engine results.

But $30,000 per link, I think not!!!

    • Googles algorithm is all that matters, even for paid search. Believe when I tell you that they don't sort the results by hands, lol.

Anyway, my point is that many website that are knowledgeable about SEO (search Engine Optimization) will buy text links from highly rated authoritative sites in order to gain authority within the search engines algorithm for their own site. Some of the authority gets transferred because of the text link, That's just a fact.

That could be the reason that there are no tracking codes, because the buyer is not looking for direct traffic from the link, rather the buyer of the text link is betting that their site will show up in a better position for organic search.

When a company buys a text link from an authoritative site with a 9 or 10 PageRank (now that I've schooled you on how PageRank works), they usually pay anywhere from $1500 - $2500 monthly.

So that Qihoo's revenue of $30,000 per month is 10 to 20 times higher charges than their competitors for the same service.

Hey, if they can charge 10-20 times more than anyone else for the same service, I applaud them. Also, if they can claim they do, even though they don't, I applaud them (only if they don't get caught).

My point is that I believe based on the numbers that they are cooking the books, but I can't prove it and no one else can either.

If they collude with other businesses and all of the revenues match up with deposits, than it is so (even if it isn't)

If the revenues aren't real, but no-one can prove it, than are they real after all? It's a new philosophical question that may one day be answered by keeping track of these Chinese stocks.

    • Seasaw:
I have been saying that you have serious deficiency in your head. Does that mean you are brain dead and worthless.

    • you can't read, huh? they had material deficiencies and weaknesses in financial reporting. That means that their numbers are worthless - you could have pulled them out of a hat. False, phoney, fraudulent.

    • I am going by the truth, you are wrong, but of course you know that. You are a crook trying to pump this fraud to rip off investors.

Seriously. Seasaw and whoever else is going by the reports of Citron, a shorting firm that has been wrong on many important issues.

QIHU is a growing, innovating company. Just a few days ago, QIHU announced that it is developing a smart phone!

Huawei, Qihoo 360 to Jointly Develop Smart Phone
3 days 6 hours 52 minutes ago - SinoCast via Comtex

Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. is going to cooperate with Qihoo 360 Technology Co., Ltd. (NYSE: QIHU) to jointly develop smart phone.

Qihoo 360 will specially provide security solutions for the smart phone, says senior vice president of Huawei, but he declines to disclose the details of the phone.

As for the channel distribution of Huawei's mobile phones, operators' customization has always been a main channel for Huawei, while the social and network channels have just been put into operation since the recent one or two years. As the social channel costs more, Huawei inclines to lay special emphasis on the network channel in future, says the senior vice president. Huawei will cooperate with more Internet companies in mobile phone business in the future, he adds.

    • It is because he does not have any proof.

Please provide productive discussion to this forum.

All you've been doing is declaring vague statements like "mushroom clouds!" and "read it for yourself!" without demonstrating any clear understanding or legitimate sources.

    • page 9 or 10... You obviously have an agenda.. Anyone who knos anything about google advertising knows that over 90% of users click on links in first 2 pages. So comparing ad space on page 9 or 10 to front page is like comparing a billboard in downtown Manhattan to a billboard in the middle of the Mojave desert.

      • Google Page Rank is not the same as Google search rank. Google assigns each webpage a rank to determine its authority within a subject, keyword or keyword hrase. 10 is the highest page rank Google assigns while 0 is the lowest.

These page rankings are used as weights as part of Google algorithm to determine search ranking. The higher the page rank, the more likely the chance that your webpage will show up on page one for a particular key word.

You really have zero idea how Googles search algorithm works, so until you do, you're best off keeping it to yourself. After all as the saying goes, "It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt!"

      Exactly, there is NO FRAUD.

One of the basic, fundamental tenets of US legal institutions is "innocent until PROVEN guilty".

Qihu is a good investment for 2012. It will get a little risky around April 2013 when it gets audited.

I personally think that even next April's audit will be fine.
Since I really doubt that DTT would give its blessings to QIHU this year, only to claim it's a fraud next year. That would ruin DTT's rep.

    • Read through our earlier chain where it is outlined exactly why DTT can legally avoid auditing QIHU's financial reporting process.

Basically, they state in the filing that they've audited the numbers, but not the basis for the numbers. This gives them a huge out, and allows them to collect fees for another year. There's limited reputation risk because they're not required to uncover the fraud.
