Take it from someone who competed at the complex, Chris Pook was involved and totally screwed the pooch in the deal. When LBGPA bought the place it consisted of a 1/4 drag strip, a road course, a 3/8 mile dirt track and a 1/8 mile kart dirt track. Pook closed the 3/8 mile dirt track and started building the 3/4 mile speedway on that location. He squeezed a 1/4 dirt track into the location of the 1/8 mile kart track. For a while he had ISCA and Penske as minority partners but they sold their shares before the merger with Dover.
I'm sure there's a reserve and I'm sure it'll be posted too high causing the property will remain unsold.
Auctioning Gateway seems like it'd be a much more complicated process since they don't own most of the ground the track sits on. I also thought I read in Dover's 10-Q that went out Friday that one of the leases expires in 2011.
