NYT OpEd - NE Blizzard Caused by Manmade Globalony Warming

    Bundle Up, It’s Global Warming

THE earth continues to get warmer, yet it’s feeling a lot colder outside. Over the past few weeks, subzero temperatures in Poland claimed 66 lives; snow arrived in Seattle well before the winter solstice, and fell heavily enough in Minneapolis to make the roof of the Metrodome collapse; and last week blizzards closed Europe’s busiest airports in London and Frankfurt for days, stranding holiday travelers. The snow and record cold have invaded the Eastern United States, with more bad weather predicted.

All of this cold was met with perfect comic timing by the release of a World Meteorological Organization report showing that 2010 will probably be among the three warmest years on record, and 2001 through 2010 the warmest decade on record.

How can we reconcile this? The not-so-obvious short answer is that the overall warming of the atmosphere is actually creating cold-weather extremes. Last winter, too, was exceptionally snowy and cold across the Eastern United States and Eurasia, as were seven of the previous nine winters.

Typical Libearl bass ackwards logic. Black is white and white is black. The ends justify the means.

They won't quit trying to lie and decieve until they've got everyone under their control.

Love to listen to liberal logic on the aforementioned.

Only state without snow is Florida.

      • QWAK,eggs, The education system has EDUCATED too many BEYOND there own INTELIGENCE and ability to merge there SPECIALTY in to the REALITY of actual LIFE EXPERIENCE. :(

They may be competent (?) in what they have learned BUT that does not mean there is a JOB once they have learned it! :(

They turened HIGHER EDUCATION in to a CASH COW that would never run DRY as long as people could PAY with CREDIT! :(

Common SENCE and real UNDERSTANDING and INSIGHT in to how things ALL work together has been LOST and an ALICE in WONDERLAND -- SUREALE and unnatural but accepted NORM allowed to exist -- inside a BUBBLE that is NOW poping GLOBALY! :(

Too many people PAYED with DEBT to be EDUCATED (?) about things NO ONE wants and needs to SURVIVE in what will be a GLOBAL FINANCIAL HOLICOST! :(

I guess being DYSLEXIC and not spelling like every one else so I did not go to COLLAGE has finely worked out for ME! :) LOL

Silly ME -- I bought GOLD and SILVER -- it just made sence to ME! ;)

    • Deep Freeze Gripping Midwest, Aiming for Northeast

Coldest air of the winter so far has arrived over the northern Plains and Midwest and will cause temperatures to plummet in the Northeast in the wake of today's disruptive snowstorm.

The wave of arctic air may lead to frozen pipes in some households and eventually broken water mains in some communities.

Furnaces and heaters will be working hard in coming days, and you will get the bill for it later in the month.

Actual temperatures may do no better than the single digits for highs today in Chicago and Milwaukee.

There is plenty more cold coming.'s Long Range Weather Pattern Expert Joe Bastardi said, "The period from January 20 to February 10 will bring the coldest weather since 2007 during the same period.

The Great Lakes will modify the air slightly so that temperatures will manage to climb into the teens around Detroit today through the weekend.

However, northern New England will make up for its lack of nasty cold so far this winter. Temperatures at Burlington, Vt., and Caribou, Maine, will struggle to reach zero degrees for a high Sunday.

Even a swath from the central Plains to the Ohio Valley, southern New England and northern mid-Atlantic will have episodes of nasty cold.

From St. Louis to Cincinnati, the coldest day will be today, with highs mainly in the teens, followed by a modest recovery Saturday and Sunday.

Over the central Appalachians from Pittsburgh to Scranton, Pa. and Binghamton, N.Y., both days of the weekend will be bitterly cold with highs in the single digits and teens, depending on your elevation.

For coastal areas of the mid-Atlantic and Northeast from Baltimore/Washington to Philadelphia, New York City and Boston, expect three days of January's finest cold. Highs will range from the teens in the north to the 20s in the south.

The coldest days and nights will occur with relatively light wind. However, as the cold air first sweeps in from west to east, RealFeel® temperatures will be 15 to 30 degrees lower than the actual temperature. After the arctic cold has settled in, even a slight breeze will be painful.

By the way, as cold as it will be by day, this air mass will produce temperatures of minus 20 degrees Fahrenheit from the Upper Midwest to northern New England at night. A number of locations may even get colder than that under clear skies and calm conditions.

Temperatures in International Falls, Minn., plummeted to minus 44 degrees early this morning. That broke the day's record low of minus 41 degrees from 1954.

No wonder TPTB had to change their mantra from MAN MADE GLOBAL WARMING to MAN MADE CLIMATE CHANGE.

When it becomes obvious that you're wrong you must change the debate topic in order to keep fooling the sheeple.

Lets see now the globe is getting warmer per Algore and this is causing colder winters?

Can you imagine what would happen if the globe was getting colder?

Using Algore's logic winters would be getting warmer.

      • Temperature is temperature.

        Snow is snow.

There is a relationship, but snow is not an indication of unsophisticated "hotter or colder" climate trend forecasting.

        The facts are:

        a. The earth's climate has been trending warmer for a short time frame of 15,000 years.

        b. The past 100 years have been an atypically calm weather period. We should expect weather volatility to increase back to norms or higher.

        c. Weather volatility should not be confused with climate trends.

        d. Since most all of the world's weather data is 100 years old or less, weather volatility will, WILL, be poltiically used to trump science with hot air politics.

Most people believe that a tomato is a vegetable - because the Supreme Court agreed with a President. Al Gore is not a "new breed" of politician - just another person who steps on people for taxation purposes.

What is the "vegetable" for the State of New Jersey? A fruit - the tomato.

    • QWAK,The Romans 2000+ years ago also did NOT have "MAN MADE TOXINS" like DIOXIN or a mass marketing system to get the POISENS out to the MASSES so FAST either!:(

Also lets NOT forget "MAD COW DISEASE" too from intentionaly contaminated cattle food -- to MAXIMISE profitability! :(

YES our world today "canucanoe" -- is MUCH MORE POLUTED than in ancient Rome -- even with LEAD pipes and leas cups and lead dust in the food and drink! :(

      the DUCK

    • Duck, ever the dark one - when will you see clearly? How can today be worse than Rome when they were embracing leaded cups with acidic liquids?

    • QWAK,mikiesnoky,The GLOBAL FIAT system is FAILING -- from the bottom to the top -- there is just TOO much DEBT and it is IMPOSABLE to PAY! :(

Creating MORE DIGITAL CURENCY in any form only makes the problem WORSE! :( It is GAS on the FIRE!

The only real question is -- WHEN will it become SOoooooooooooooooo OBVIOUS that it will cause the COLLAPS and chain reaction that can NOT be stoped or avoided?

I think by spring it will no longer be posable to AVOID confronting that greater reality -- but does it realy matter EXCTLY ware/when one decides to draw the line and admit -- the GOOD times are OVER and NOT coming back? HUMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

The sooner one starts preparing and prepositioning for THAT -- the more likely they will SURVIVE it and minimise the IMPACT.

      the DUCK

    • REGARDING: all that will matter is that PEOPLE who are counting on geting PAYED -- will NOT get payed! :(

RESPONSE: Amen, brother Duck. "I will glady pay you next Tuesday for a Hamburger today".....the Albany Ham Scam. It's the oldest trick in the book.

    • duckie, there you go again avoiding questions and speaking in tongues! I dont how the hell you have made it this far in life. But, i do know one thing, you're incapable of any understanding of anyone else's opinion, due to you myopic way of seeing. That is fine, maybe in time you might come to see the other side of arguments, until that time I wish you luck in your "the sky is falling" syndrome. Although, personally... I have my doubts about your theory.

      Again, see you this summer.

PS. The sky is not falling.

    • Ha ha ha. Duck, ducky, ducky. Your mind is like a washing machine, wash...rinse...and repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat. Nothing new, nothing fresh, only the same old worn out trash.

90 days, ha ha ha, Nostradamus the mountain trash fortune teller. So Nostra-duck, where do you see me and my family in three months, at the breadline, begging for hand outs?

Nostra-duck, three months till the end, better post as much trash as possible, because in the end yahoo will no longer be supported, as the internet will be a non-essential, item. Right after your fabulous predictions.

      Mountain man trash, or Nostra-duck.

    • Give it up, Duck. The food system is 1000's x better than Roman times. You postin' nonsense like this just further discredits your other diatribes.
