    Life line for CDZI?

There seem to be some rumor that Obama is considering appointing Antonio Villaraigosa, current Mayor of LA and the former consultant to Cadiz, Inc., to a prominent post in his Cabinet. Let's say he would be appointed to, say, Secretary of the Interior, could that give a short boost to CDZI's share price? Then again, Cadiz already has "one of their own" at the helm of the Secretary of Interior and so far it hasn't made much of a difference.

    • Interesting hypothetical - is there speculation that Salazar is done as secretary?

If that particular scenario does play out, don't think it's far fetched that Villaraigosa would not devote undue resources to resolving the rail 'right of way' issue - perhaps BLM would just let it sit while the state process plays out - which on balance would be better for CDZI than a full BLM review.

    • We know that Sen. Feinstein has gone out of her way to oppose the Cadiz water project a number of times. She was re-elected last month, good for another six years, chairman of the intelligence committee. NO, Obama is not going to cross Sen. Feinstein. He is just happy that Feinstein has not started to grill the Obama admin on Benghazi like the House has done.

      Sentiment: Strong Sell

    • staff at the dept of the interior (namely, the usgs) has already come out against the project. i think it is unlikely that salazar or villaraigosa would be willing to reverse a decade long position for such a controversial project.

      Sentiment: Strong Sell
