Clearly TKC is in violation of NYSE standards. The real ownership of stock shares is not recognized by the Turkish government or courts. Karamehmet lost control of majority shares a couple of years ago but continues to contol the board of TKC thru government fiat. Karamehmet is a big financial player in Turkish politics and Turkish ownership of the National Telephone Company can play an emotional role in the up coming election. This whole fiasco kinda reminds me of the movie where the Producers of a broadway play sell 300% of the ownership in their play "Springtime for Hitler" ...hoping it flops and they don't have to account for the money. The majority stockholders don't get to pick the board here...why should we think we will get our money? Turkey is acting like a third world country and the government has seized stock holder assets...and this is what happens with the BIGGEST company Turkey has on the world (ADR) stage? SEC should move to delist.
