One other stock/bond to consider is AFC. Its the old unsecured bonds issued by Allied and assumed by ARCC. The bonds are yielding about 8% right now and for them not to pay all the equity of ARCC would have to be wiped out. Since ARCC' net credit loss over the last two years was relatively minor, I think the bonds are about as safe as investment as there is out. Also, I like FSC, absolutely no debt and a relatively new portfolio of almost all senior secured loans (2nd liens also). Once they put all their equity capital to work, I assume they will start leveraging themselves up and thus their dividend also should increase.
