From what I've read, you will make this company your life if you want to work there. How long is that sustainable? No one can work 12-hr days, 6-7 days/week for more than a few years. Is it worth giving up your health? Put a price tag on having a heart attack, wrecking your marriage, or missing your kids grow up. If there's no work life balance, it's a crappy company no matter how much "respect" you think you are getting. Forget it and get real!!!
You guys are complete buffoons. Where in Financial Services do you get "normal" work hours? This is why we make so much money and why in 3 years most analysts are well into the six-figure salary range. These positions are not for geriatrics with families and hemorroids. This is for the 22-yr old college grad. If you don't like then get some cushy job making $70K and doing trade confirms.
I'm not sure what it's like to work in the other departments of BlackRock, but working for BlackRock Realty is exciting, challenging, and is a place with great morale. I'm happy to come to work everyday, and the balance between work and family is never compromised.
