I am kicking off the night with the Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald. It's a smooth tasting porter with a chocholatey/coffeeish aftertaste. I don't usually drink porters but this is a damn good one. A good working class beer from Cleveland.
You must be a young man. I hit 50, and beer made me bloat and short of wind, so I switched to Jack Daniels whiskey. Mix it with caffeine-free diet pepsi or diet coke. Buzz without the bloat.
A couple weeks ago I think I said I switch exclusively to bourbon as soon as I hit the bar. I enjoy a nice craft brew to enjoy and "warm up" but hard liquor is the way to go. Jack is always a good choice.
X, what a coincidence. Has a coffee porter at a local pub, don't know the brewer, but the sweet taste that a porter typical has is muted a bit by the coffee grounds flavor. Ok, not great. Not like a Stone Porter...!
Also had a red ale called childish hop, brewed at the pub. #$%$, no distinguishable taste..
Btw, if u want a few GREAT ipa, try any of the $1.99 ipa's that trader joe's carries. Awesome...
I will have to try Trader Joe's IPAs. I am partial to liquor but when I drink beer, it is normally an IPA. My favorite is probably Bell's Two Hearted Ale from Michigan and then Starr Hill's Northern Lights as a local (Virginia).
For you liquor lovers, the Grey Goose is good as is the Bacardi but it's all about BOURBON WHISKEY! Wild Turkey 101! Good night SPY board. I will see you tomorrow or Monday.
2 oz Lagavulin with 2 cubes and a Romeo & Julietta Churchill out on the deck watching the girls and their friends giggle around the fire. . Father In Law 81st Birthday so steak dinner (again- ah hell what does the doctor know!)
The Lagavulin is my favorite. I swear you can actually chew the peat. Good nite all. Great weekend. Time for another. I love these kind of nights.
