GOGO trialed with Air China back in 2011

I'm sure we are all aware of the ENT press release regarding an Air China Trial. his tells me two things:

    1) Air China is evaluating solutions and moving to select a long-term connectivity provider sometime in the near future
    2) ENT and GOGO are considered to be on a level playing field in their customer's eyes... When an solution evaluation takes place- both will get called up to the plate.

I don't think one can assume Air China was not satisfied with their GOGO trial... I think they are simply evaluating more than one vendor.

What else does this tell us?

    • I don't see any 'trials' for gogo...

    • Correct. The press release says a "trial" on ONE aircraft.

For all we know, GOGO might be in the running for "a trial" as well, but not yet. Air China probably won't make a decision on their Satellite based connectivity until later in 2014 anyway. It's odd that ENT is whining about GOGO being a monopoly. The cowards that run ENT must be Democrats who always like to run to the government anti-trust laws when they realize they can't compete on their own merits. Of course, the ENT so-called "monopoly" case will be thrown out of court.

From the ENT PRES RELEASE: -- "Air China Limited ("Air China") and Global Eagle Entertainment (ENT) have signed an agreement to launch a trial of Global Eagle's high-speed, Ku-band satellite-based connectivity service. This program marks Air China's first launch of Ku-band powered services.

The trial will enable Air China's passengers to access the Internet and stored content on approved handheld devices, in accordance with applicable Chinese regulations. The trial will commence aboard a 777-200 aircraft in 2014.

    • Good points. I suspect the gogo trail did not use their latest technology as it was done in 2011. i also recon that Air China is playing it for pricing.
