Good read...thanks. Here's one sentence from the topic, which kind of summarizes much of what I've been saying about the entrenched research culture of Big Pharma while many needlessly suffer or die.....
"We need decades to learn how to harness the healing power of stem cells,"
It took decades to convince people to wash their hands before conducting surgery. During this time, many people died. The real pioneers like Louis Pasteur, just did the work themselves. His development of many of the first vaccines were achieved by taking action. Any job can be turned into decades long work, but as in the case of the Manhattan Project, when motivation of total destruction is applied, spirits are moved to do great things. It has been 20 years since Osiris began the research behind Prochymal. For GvHD, liver, and GI, the results are significant, and for the skin, it also works, although it is more tedious to work from a clinical trials persepctive. We need decades, and that it exactly what Osiris has spent. Without side effects and proven efficacy, there is more than enough evidence to start. If you ever had a first generation Apple computer, you realize everything has a start. The real problem here is exactly what was mentioned about the NYC Stem Cell Summit, turning Big Pharma on its head. For the powers that be, this is a BIG problem. Small molecules make billions. The latest paper out by Pete's scientist down in Georgia hammers Prochymal, not because it does not work, but because it does.
Randy needs Switzerland to break this thing open. Once the water seeps through the cracks, its all over for the naysayers. Doctors and patients will then decide.
