ok - I have 48 holdings, 30 in my regular account, 21 in a 401k (which also has 10 mutual funds. GE, STKL and STZ are in both. This note is on the rambling side... but you can always skip it.
Boring well run companies w/ mkt caps over $10B include GE, MMM, JCI, APD, ABT, and FITB (although I'm having 2nd thoughts on how well run FITB is, but would recommend the rest as long-term holdings)
I went on a health play that has worked well for me with stocks like UNFI, STKL, FDP and HAIN. I've sold half my UNFI stock. Fresh Del Monte (separate co. from the one that sells stuff in cans in the U.S.) is struggling but I love their pineapples and dividends are nice.
Other financials include MET, ALFA, ENH (losing some here due to hurricanes but hoping for a more moderate hurricane season), FMD (up a lot for me, but volatile), TRAD, and NITE.
Misc. small stuff like IKNX (really small but doing great with several ops for more growth), KTII, DAIO, ISSC (down $1.50 here, but listen to conf. call - expect strength a couple of quarters out...I may buy more), UG, NEOG,AMK, MCRI (single casino with room to grow in Reno and the bowling convention is returning this year).
RPM (if the asbestos issue gets resolved this maker of rustoleum will jump 20% at least). EK - This is a gamble but they are making progress on move to digital JBX - Already sold half, but QDoba Mex. Grill keeps it interesting. MDU/OTTR/ALE - utility mini conglomerates ZBRA/MANH - my play on RFID -losing money here GRMN - growth play STZ - up on this, and bought more on recent decline. good cash flow, possible expansion of corona dist to east coast. largest wine company in a fragmented market. FO - other alcohol play, plus titlest, and plumbing and cabinets (former cigarette co) HNZ, SLE - Old companies I'm wondering why I bought, but at least getting a dividend. NSC - Great Railroad, but near high, may sell PNR - Primarily a water play since selling tools to Black & Decker a year or two back. CY - You get the core company for next to nothing after factoring their ownership share of SPWR (their solar spinoff) BSX - I'm holding but not recommending The rest... DY, TBAC, SAH, CPKI, ROCK, ABD (spun off from FO)
Sold PNRA recently at $75 and it's been falling. I'd look to be a buyer below $65 and certainly at $60 unless bad news beyond CFO leaving.
