Ok, so Popcap fires a bunch of people, right?

This was a few days ago. Popcap is owned by EA. They fired 50 people and might want to fire more. The reason was that they want to "move into mobile".

'"The change in consumer tastes requires us to reorganize our business and invest in new types of games on new platforms," PopCap co-founder John Vechey wrote in a blog post today. "It's a completely different world from when we started."'

This guy is either an idiot, or he was spoon-fed this by EA management because he's on a ridiculously lucrative contract that was created when EA bought Popcap, and some turd(s) in EA wants to cut costs at a division so s/he can get a bonus for good performance. Because:

Artists can't draw on new platforms? Programmers can't code on new platforms? Designers can't design on new platforms? Testers can't test on new platforms?

I am so tired of these people. At least it's not as bad as Zynga completely not caring about their customers (throwing them under the bus with bugs and horrid "features") and then expecting them to come back!
