    Good fund to get into

It's doing rather well this year.

    • I was skeptical at first after reading the prospectus and the manager's statement that his first concern is to not lose money during downturns. After all, every value manager says that, and not every value fund delivers. But because it was a good diversifier to my TBGVX, I got in, and damned if TAVIX isn't the best international fund of them all this year, having lost less in this recession than any other international fund. I'm dollar-cost averaging my way in so it becomes about 10 percent of my portfolio (with TBGVX at 20 percent).

    • I just got into TAVIX. I've been watching it for a while. I like the fund manager's approach and philosphy. I am glad the price is beaten down - it gives me a chance to pick up more shares.

I've tried being a stock picker and I just can't produce enough returns to justify the time involved.

It looks to me like TAVIX should do well over the next 3-5 years. The fund manager obviously understands macroeconomic factors and he is doing his homework on individual companies.

I like value investing. I just couldn't do it for myself - especially for foreign equities. This should be a nice balance against a domestic large cap fund like DODGX.

Surely there are a lot of other individual investors out there who will develop an interest in TAVIX.
