I have a 2002 sequoia with 22000 miles. I have to put on the 2nd set of front brake pads already. Is 11000 miles per set what can be expected? My mechanic says that the pads were designed way to small for the size of the SUV Given all the bad press that large SUV's have received over the past two years is Toyota going to redesign this serious problem?
First generation LS400 had the same problem. Lexus in 93/94 redesigned the brakes, bigger dia. and thicker rotors with better pads. I think if this problem that you noted becomes a frequent customer complain you will see Toyota respondig to this in the future. Meanwhile investigate in an aftermarket solution.
