I love the industry structure and CMP's assets and business model, but this weather has to be killing them. 4Q06 miss likely and at least 1/3 of 1Q07 is going to suck. Nice window here to short through 4Q06 earnings release without having to pay the dividend.
This moron live in KC and writes an opinion on cmp and is clueless! I'm not going to tell you why the slow start to the winter was a great thing for cmp, but it was! Go get a Morningstar account and read what they have to say about this firm. Never quite sure about others motives! Anyhow this is not a day trader stock if you like the firm its a core holding for income and growth over the long run. Oh ya and I live in Chicago and its been quite wet and cold around these parts as of late, not to mention the upward action in potash as of late. What a rag, I'm glad we have the trib.
Winter's got a long way to go to get "back to even" I'm afraid, at least for the majority of CMP's region.
Now for the good news. The weather has seemed to evolve now into a more varied pattern; a few days of relative cold followed by a brief warm-up. This scenario is conducive to snow. If the pattern holds on for the remainder of the winter (beyond 12 days, no one really knows squat) then the hope of recovery remains.
