Historically, bananas in AU has been pricey anyway, because they have very protective laws on imports. There's plenty of bananas that could come over from Philippines, but regulations prohibit this, purportedly because of disease risk, but ostensibly it is protectionism. It will be interesting to see if public pressure changes this stance in some way. Hard to day what got hit besides bananas. But, if I recall correctly, DOLE has plantations of various types over there (pineapples?), so this may be impacting their stock, as well.
