Should I unload all my old copper pennies now?
I'll pay face value.
Your pennies would need to pre-date 1982 when the U.S. mint increased the zinc content of the Lincoln cent. The weight of the penny was reduced by some 20 percent at that time and even makes a different sound now when dropped or "pinged".
Hang on to your pre-1982 pennies, they're worth more than 2.8¢ apiece this morning.http://coinflation.com
No but hang onto your nickels, last melt price I saw was $.067 so they won't be around for long.
