Look @ the 10yr this morning after the jobs announcement. Yield up like a rocket blasting off. If it closes anywhere near the current level it will be a very very bad day for PTTRX. There will be a future point where getting back into this thing will be a good move, but I am glad I am out of it at this point.

Dejavue. All over again.
News said Mr. Gross "doubled-down" on the treasuries mid-July. Probably was not the thing to do, in hindsight.
PTTRX is down .05 today.
I'm not that upset because some is probably because of the dividend. I looked at the Fidelity site for the heck of it when I was checking my stocks and couldn't believe it was updated already.
it's about 10/12 pct of my portfolio. Looking long term I'm pretty comfortable with that split. I also have shares in lsbrx on pondx in an IRA but their dividends, like pttrx, are reinvesting themselves. A decade down the line it will pay off. Treating these in terms of short run results is myopic IMO.
What people are not considering is if they would have gotten out when this was in the $11.20s like I told them they could get back in now and would have been able to buy many more shares rather than just hold and watch their 401k or IRA go down in flames. They could hold out longer as well, if they wanted. A few months without dividends would not kill them financially. Or, if they could buy into the stock market, which will be going much higher as institutions start pulling money out of bonds and putting it into stocks due to the massive increase in interest rates that will be occurring over the next year, they could really make some sizable gains.
Oh well, I'm glad I am already long the market, I take profits every 1000 DoW points, so next stop is DoW 16k! I already had taken profits at 15K the first time it got there, so I bought a little AT&T stock on the recent pullback for that juicy dividend. I'm a long term holder of T already, since $23.
I sold about 90% and figure I may need to sell more. I've made $ off of this fund for years, but this fund is STILL heavy in long-term treasuries. It wasn't long ago he was short treasuries-he would have made a killing.
