Who is idfu72- There is only one place that I know of and you have to belong to WSJ. One of the best paid sites on the net so you get more than just closing quotes on the Japan mrkt. DBC or now CBS site doesn't give them becouse they say there are restrictions. I would also be interested in any more sites. The actual exchange in Japan gives a live real time chart of the composite. If you belong to WSJ this is the site. https://interactive.wsj.com/edition/resources/documents/mktindex.htm?cl_austr.htm
Bought some more sne. Sony should think about a name change to GODZILLA for the summer. Ticker GZZ. Tony
First I must say I will be buying on any weekness today.
There is a news release concernining the Columbia part of Sony and a 94 tax right off. One part of the article kind of ties it to the recent bond issue and then Sony's statement says article released in news in Japan, has inacuracies.
Sony was down at least 300 yen in Japan and then closed down only 100 yen.
I always suspect motives and I never underestimate the power of certain people to get a better price. I won't participate in driving the price down but will try and get the lowest buy I can. Tony
seems like the floor is high 80's. only question is will the "flu" affect earnings and drive stock lower. i have no idea. i will dollar cost average into this stock over the next 3-6 months prior to what i expect will be a slow rally in japan lasting for a few years.
I have been following sne for awhile and picked today to get in. BW seems to pick up most of the news releases. If one has WSJ both briefing books and smart money have info. One of the most interesting news articles I have run into is posted below. Today also sonny announced entrance into the hand held computer game business to commpete with nintindo's game boy. Wish somebody would build one of sonny's new theater systems around where I live. Sounds (p intended) like a winner. I got in becouse the stochastic K=8 D=15 rsi=24. Sne doesn't get into an oversold position very often and just taking advantage.
MATSUMOTO, JAPAN (Nikkei)--Officials at Sony Corp.'s (SNE or 6758) wholly owned subsidiary Sony Digital Products Inc. said the company expects Y84 billion in sales in fiscal 1997, up 65% over the previous year, the Nikkei Industrial Daily said Thursday.
The strong performance is due largely to the brisk production of notebook computers. For the year ending in March, Sony Digital expects 85% of overall sales from the Vaio Notebook 505 computer, which was released on the market by Sony last July. The current monthly production rate is 25,000 to 30,000 machines, the newspaper said.
As reported earlier, the ultra-popular Woods agreed to a four-year deal with Electronic Arts Inc. (ERTS), which plans to release a Tiger Woods golf game for the personal computer and Sony Corp.'s (SNE) PlayStation game console this summer.
News of the Woods deal has sent shares of Electronic Arts up 3 7/16, or 8.6%, to 43 1/4 on Nasdaq volume of 5.9 million shares, compared with average daily turnover of 1.3 million shares. Earlier, the stock hit a 52-week high of 43 3/4, topping its previous high of 40 1/4 set last October. - By Thomas Granahan; 201-938-5172
