BHP ａｎｄ ＲＩＯ ａｒｅ ｓｈｅｄｄｉｎｇ ａｓｓｅｔｓ, ｎｏ ｗａｙ ｆｏｒ ｔｈｅｍ ｔｏ ｔａｋｅ ｏｖｅｒ ＣＬＦ. Freeport is unlikely to get into iron ore business which has no synergy with its copper and gold. Almost all overseas iron ore projects invested by Chinese are in trouble now, so do not expect Chinese to bid for CLF.
The only two possible companies are Teck and Anglo Americans. Teck has got cash and its CEO said the company could get into iron ore business. Also, CLF's seaborne iron ore and coking coal have same marketing targets with Teck's coking coal. Anglo Americans has iron ore and chromium businesses, and CLF's American market and its chromite project in Canada look attractive to Anglo.
