SD is a willing seller
The share price around time of offer is around $6
My top 3 suggestions:
1) Sinopec - after CHK deal they obviously want in on Miss
2) Chevron - $21bn cash pile
3) Linn - Very acquisitive
OXY at 8 to 9 dollars.
Your buyers are all good possibilities but a sale in the near term is unlikely. When the stock is back up above $10 a $14 offer may be considered (IMHO).
It depends on how much of SD assets TPG will sell off to balance the books to make the company look attractive. Its a shame the 2.2 billion they just got didn't 100% go towards debt.
They may take some of the money planned for E&P this year and pay down more debt, will know in 90 days.
Strategically, Occidental or Apache are the more likely candidates to acquire SD. SD is an expensive target given all of the unknowns. I can't see any board wanting to JUMP on this.
I agree,..TOO MANY,..UNKNOWNS,... TPG needs to get to WORK and "fix" the "unknowns"!!
And start,..making a,.. PROFIT.
