Book value $4.99 mrq....since then planes have been sold, board member pay reduced, and who knows what else
may have occurred. There is plenty of cash on hand, plenty of assets should cash be needed so there is no chance of "Bankruptcy". Given we are already below book with known improvements to debt ratios and improvements to operating costs...very little risk at overpaying to buy SD at this price. I don't know to what extent the ESP's will boost oil production $$ to the bottom line or the natgas price improvement which is not hedged...but I would fully expect we'll see book valuation improve this quarter and most likely for several quarters to come. If anything the lower below book SD gets the more likely a takeover will occur..if the price is right..and we all know TPG would welcome a good tender offer. I really think folks are worried for no good reasons at this stock price. If it goes down further, I'll grit my teeth but I'll buy more....greed...it's a terrible affliction I have been saddled with !
Bok value generally is not a good ratio to utilize when valuing stocks. SD's book value may understate its market value as there were write downs when NG was selling for lower prices. I do agree however with your conclusion.
