Why is Vascepa better? Indisputable facts my friends!!!!

It's NOT better. Vascepa just costs more.

    • 1 Capsule of Vascepa = 1 gram dose of EPA, with zero DHA, 96% concentration

    • 2 Capsules of PlusEPA = 1 gram dose of EPA, with zero DHA, 90% concentration

    • Active ingredients in 1 VASCEPA capsule = 1000mg pure EPA with no DHA

    • Active ingredients in 2 PlusEPAs capsules = 1000mg pure EPA with no DHA

    • Inactive ingredients in VASCEPA = gelatin, glycerin, tocopherol, maltitol, sorbitol, and purified water

    • Inactive ingredients in PlusEPA = gelatin, glycerin, mixed tocopherols, soy lecithin

    • Vascepa = manufacture and packaging must be conducted in accordance with the FDA’s current good manufacturing practices

    • PlusEPA = Pharmaceutical Grade - all manufacturing, encapsulation and laboratory testing conducted in accordance with GMP guidelines (Good Manufacturing Practices).

    • VASCEPA is obtained naturally from wild deep-water Pacific Ocean fish.

    • PlusEPA = Minami Nutrition only uses fish oil from small deep-sea fish originating from the clean waters around Antarctica.

    • PlusEPA = One month total cost of capsules (4 gm per day) = $135.60

    • Vascepa = One month total cost of capsules (4 gm per day) = $220.00 ***

    (.5 hour) Doctor's visit = $250 +
    Blood Draw = $25
    Comp. Metabolic Panel (14) = $50
    Lipid Panel = $95

+ follow up visits ($250 each) + more blood tests ($170 each) + more costs and on and on.

How is pure rx grade EPA in a PlusEPA box any different from pure rx grade EPA in a Vascepa box?

My Doctor said, don't be stupid.......if you want EPA just take PlusEPA.

Ask your doctor at your next annual checkup. They will tell you to go buy PlusEPA and save the $$$

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

    • You don't have any friends here, AH. Just check the # of thumbs down. IGGY!

    • You are going on Ignore, not because of analysis. Because of your other self writing the same info - identical

    • Looks like someone told you only half the story. Move on to Chapter Two...

Farber...very good comparison. BUT, U left 1 very important idea out of the analysis: Lovaza a $900 mil drug that is inferior to Vascepa. And, the Vascepa statin combo results will confirm that it is a real winner. It reduces the side effects of the statin, AND allows the script mgs of the statin to be reduced. ALL GOOD !

    • I have already paid for my health insurance. Why do I buy this junk PlusEPA for $150 instead of FDA approved Vascepa for as little as $10 a month?

    • About 70 percent of the nation's supplement companies have run afoul of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's manufacturing regulations over the past five years, according to a top agency official.

Consumers are put at risk by poorly measured ingredients, uncleaned manufacturing equipment, pesticides in herbal products, supplements contaminated with illegal prescription medications -- even bacteria in pediatric vitamins, recall notices and agency inspection records have shown.

"We're seeing some real problems out there," said Dr. Daniel Fabricant, who heads the FDA's division of Dietary Supplement Programs, referring to manufacturing issues affecting a large number of dietary supplement companies.
