Any chance fuel cells would work in a hydrogen powered wheelchair.? Friends chair has 2-deep-cycle marine batteries. I think it weighs close to a ton. He steers with a device in mouth. And he loves to travel. Used to go 6-miles down from 2,000 foot elevation but always needs a ride back up. I tjhink the chair slows a lot going up hill with all that weight. Any chance a fuel cell would improve things.? Or be applicable.?
I think it is entirely possible to power a wheelchair with fuel cells. There would be a significant weight reduction that would assist with countering the elevation gain. You would probably have some issues with finding customer-friendly, replaceable pressurized hydrogen connisters that could contain enough hydrogen to provide significant distance. I know someone was planning to provide some lightweight bottles for some Asian scooters so they may exist already.
Hydrogen powered wheelchair is coming, fast recharge, zero pollution, steady power. BLDP is most likely going after heavy machinery first, that is where they can grow the company. A hydrogen power wheelchair is most likely in the works. Great idea rz400.
Maybe because there is a rapidly growing elderly population that this might be a market for? There are 10,000 new retirees every day and probably a significant proportion of them will eventually end up in a wheelchair. You think that maybe this could be a significant market?...
