Shift and renovate the SS United States

Carnival needs to shift gears. I'd suggest it think about less passengers paying more money on smaller ships. I certainly don't want to go on one of their floating cities...I already live in a city.

The SS United States is sending out what may be its final distress call. The 990-foot-long ship could be sold for scrap within two months unless the grassroots preservation group that's working to secure a home and purpose for it can raise $500,000 immediately

    • When you think about the amount of money needed to restore the former ship the United States, maybe it might be fitting to really sink the ship to create an artificial reef somewhere for divers and to create a habitat for fish in the ocean.

    • There is a great deal of nostalgia associated with the SS United States and I would love to see it restored. But the money required is enormous and it is probably not practical. Norwegian Cruise Line has owned it for years and has not moved to resurrect the great liner. Sadly, it's near the end.
