Got a note in my light bill today saying that my rate is going up 11% because of three coal fired generating plants that Duke Energy has replaced. with natural gas. Bet if natural gas stays at $3.50 my new rate will be okay. What happens if natural gas goes above $5 (back to the cost to produce it). The increase won't hurt the average rate payer. An extra $15 per month means that I have to give up something. I am a 79 year old retiree. Of course, I have no recourse.
