The Global banking system is insolvent and most U.S banks are in the same situation.
STI may or may not survive, it all depends on the continued too big to fail doctrine of the FED. My point is they shouldn't survive as they are destroying capital. They are just like the zombie banks in Japan that have brought that country into it's 3RD decade of economic malaise.
They aren't surviving based on performance. They survived (for now) based on transfers of taxpayer largesse to incompetent management. Now they're doing it with their own capital with the same results. Beefing up STRH is an effort to double down on their risks.
