Oncdoc, you brought up the MTC results, I have to imagine you listened to the recent CC. Dr A appeared to be absolutely giddy when asked a question pertaining to the push-back of trial results. she couldn't specify anything obviously, but that giddy laugh seemed quite telling.
Did you pick up on that??? Much to my discredit, I don't recall the specifics of the question or response I was so taken by the initial giddy response.
Really there nothing to fight over here. The range of what pursuing a deal might mean is truly huge. For example, making unreturned phone calls to all the major Japanese pharma comapnies could be "pursuing a deal" (though very unlikely to lead to one) and on the other hand, there could be draft contracts with terms near agreed to that fall apart (the result to the public is the same). I'd have to believe that anyone at EXEL senior enough to know what's going on on the partnering front would have major insider trading restrictions in general so I just wouldn't conclude anything from insider activity on this front. On the other hand, the timing of the mTC results is something some folks at EXEL should know about though they would not be able to act on that knowledge anyway. It's just a quiet time, meaning nothing happening, as opposed to an SEC quiet time.
