If more and more mixed-signal companies really are splitting their budgets between Cadence for legacy and Berkeley for nanometer, Ellow moving from Cadence to Berkeley Design cannot be good for Cadence (or Synopsys!).
I never new Ellow but I doubt that he is one of the 'old' sales guys. It would be interesting to hear what leads you to say he is one of the 'old' sales guys who made money easy by selling the farm. Care to explain?
Sales are given bookings/revenue/cash/renewal goals and they have to achieve the goals with the product cards they are dealt with. Bad/unrealistic goals lead to bad behaviors (or departures).
