I'm getting sick and tired over all of the hyberbole #$%$ analyst junkies that keep touting TWO as the "best" MREIT out there to invest in.
Well, I'm still waiting and waiting. Two years after.....I'm barely at cost basis.
If you bought this two years ago at about $9.50, then you should be okay. You collected over $2.50 in dividends, plus you got shares of SBY. I don't know about you, but I sold the SBY almost immediately. Regardless, the distribution of SBY will lower your cost basis by anothr dollar -- which you should see on the next 1099-div. So now you cost basis is about $8.50 and you got over $2.50 in dividends.
So you did not double your money in two years. Hmmm.
Hey did you see WMC dividend today wow $2.35 ex date is Dec 26 they said the book value is $16.76. Stock has been all over $16- $17.17 $.80 cash max if everyone wants the cash...I think the Fed is only going to reduce the tapering from $85 billion to $75 billion and will not raise interest rates til Sept 2016. GLTA
Look at it as a business that's generating income for the past two years and going forward. If you bought an actual bricks and mortar business you'd monitor your continuing income from the business and not endlessly check to see how much money you'd get if you sold the business today.
Board members...TWO is up 39.2% over the last two years (12-17-11...12-17-13) in 'Total Returns'...am I the only investor that goes by 'Total Returns' (with the dividends added back)...NYMT is up 37.4% in 'Total Returns' over the same time period (about the same)...! $tagg...!
TWO years with TWO and you're barely at cost basis? That's worse than a lump of coal for Christmas!
Hope you have a happier New Year and are able to unload this miserable POS next year.
NYMT is trading at a premium of over 10% of book while TWO is trading at a discount of over 10% of book. NYMT is solid but TWO is positioned to really kill it next year. There is a lot of unrecognized value in their non-agency portfolio and the MSRs will expand their NIM significantly.
So as I just looked, NYMT's last reported book value is 6.24 as of 9/30. Here's a great pairs trade. Sell NYMT and buy almost any other REIT. It is insane that any REIT in this environment is trading above BV. Buy TWO. But EFC. But EARN. Buy CYS. Anyone long ANY REIT above BV isn't paying attention.
