    On June 12 a board will make a recomendation to
    Montana's govener on their choice of an operator of a 500
    bed private prison (will probably be expanded to 1200
    by 2002). WHC and CCA are apparently the
    frontrunners. Contract is to be awarded by July 1. Will keep
    you posted.

      • A private prison selection committee has ranked
        the 5 bidders for MT's first private prison. Here are
        the results: Co. name, points, rate per day (per
        inmate) CCA --- 1019 points, $52.00 per dayWHC --- 1013
        points, $60.97 per dayCornell Corrections, Inc. --- 866
        points, $62.44 per dayManagement Training Co. --- 733
        points, $49.59 per dayCapital Correction Co. ---- 557
        points, $51.56 per dayCCA and WHC to make "last and best"
        offers on June 8th with the final decision coming June
        19. The prison would open in late 1999. Possible
        expansion to 1500 inmates (correction from previous post of
        1200) by 2002.
