Before we all rubber-stamp what management proposes, I would suggest we scrutinize the Board nominees ... I am not a fan of older (north of 70), long-serving Directors as they tend to lose objectivity, analytical/strategic prowess, openness to new ideas and change generally, and they gravitate to being "old-boy" supporters of mediocre or outright bad management (e.g., Lewis Campbell) ... most have served in the 10-15 year range with a couple 16-20 ... two resonant considerations for me are the amount of time they supported Campbell who destroyed shareholder value on epic proportions, and those that were apparently silent when rumors were flying of an impending bankruptcy in early 2009 due to overblown TFC issues ... TXT "Communications" people chose to stonewall this obviously false story which drove the stock BELOW $4 ... and I have been on record on the wisdom of the Beech acquisition (time to double-down on this category?) ... use your judgment, but I do not see the current group being amenable to even discussing spin-offs which will unlock huge value or potential deals if and when they appear ...
