eCall will become mandatory in the European Union from 2014
"To help mitigate the consequences of serious road accidents across the EU, today the European Commission adopted two proposals to ensure that, by October 2015, cars will automatically call emergency services in case of a serious crash. The "eCall" system automatically dials 112 - Europe's single emergency number - in the event of a serious accident. It communicates the vehicle's location to emergency services, even if the driver is unconscious or unable to make a phone call. It is estimated that it could save up to 2500 lives a year (MEMO/13/547).
This draft legislation will ensure that from October 2015, all new models of passenger cars and light duty vehicles would be fitted with 112 eCall and the necessary infrastructure would be created for the proper receipt and handling of eCalls in emergency call response centres - ensuring the compatibility, interoperability and continuity of the EU-wide eCall service."
----With SWIR commanding 34.5% of the global M2M market this will be "huge" for SWIR. The market looks to the future not to "what has been" One can see the potential for SWIR's growth in share price. It seems that it might be prudent to own some SWIR shares! However, do your own DD!-------
I know you've been on this board for some time. What do you think of ltrx, its a M2M co., its volume spiked about the same time and to the same extent as swir's did when swir exploded, but the price hasn't appreciated at all.
enrique_har, LTRX designs, manufactures and markets networking products, as well as being a global provider of smart networking communications solutions for M2M applications. It has a market cap of $21.87M,income revenue of $45.34M, cash $5.83M, negative net income of - $0.18, and 14.6M shares outstanding. The Communications Equipment industry last year showed a 11.21% growth while LTRX showed a negative growth of -2.85%. This same growth rate seems to be continuing in the current year. S0, as you can see, LTRX is a small "low key" operation which is losing money currently and is expected to lose money in the future. personally, as a result, I would not touch the stock. However, please do your own DD!
