I'm new here and looking for a solid dividend payer. I chanced upon this stock and it's dividend yield seems to good to be true in light of all the uncertainties in the economy especially for REITs. I'd like to ask some questions and thank you for your responses in advance:
Why is the pps dropping while the dividends are rising dramatically?
Why are the dividends rising so dramatically? Was their some acquistions done recently that were acretive?
Why were there 5 dividends paid in the past year? Don't they pay quarterly like most REITs?
What are the risks to the pps and dividends in the future given the rising interest rates and what might possible be a slowing housing market due to higher mortgage rates?
As you can see by todays turnaround from yesterdays dismal performance, shorts were out in droves yesterday re-setting thier bets that mREITS are doomed ; consequently they had an exagerated effect on the volatility for mREITS. The knowledgeable longs understood that solid perfroming mREITs like WMC are here to stay and are incresing thir positions at bargan prices
Christopher Davis's SA article just posted this afternoon is an excellent analysis on WMC, giving an objective opinion on the stocks past performance and future capabilities. Further, today was the day after options expired which could account for added pressure from traders shorting WMC on expectations of a poor third quarter. With WMC trading at such a large discount to book, IMO it can only rise in the next quater. Good luck to all longs
It is a gift at this price! Tremendous addition to a retirement account or for those who are tired of getting 0.3 % interest at the bank. At this price you buy it and just forget you own it. It is a good company with a staff of experts in the field.
