NAV was 12.29 last night ,now $7.65

You're confusing the market price with the NAV, no these bonds did not drop 40%.

The spread from Treasuries for Latam bonds are about 550 bp right now.

In extreme panic like in 2002 when Lula was elected it's reached as high as 1700 basis points for Brazilian bonds.

Emerging market bonds are not for the average financially illiterate American who fancies himself a sophisticated investor because he bought TEI last year.

They are the ones panicking and selling now, not sure too many institutions bother to deal directly with something illiquid like TEI, they buy the underlying bonds directly.
