    dumb question from retail newbie

This is the first time I'm investing in a retailer that reports its sales figures (and provides forward guidance) on a monthly basis. My question is, once that data is made public, how important is the quarterly earnings report? Shouldn't nearly all the relevant information already be known at that point? Other than some dramatic reduction in expenses, how is earnings surprise possible?

    Sentiment: Buy
