    New VP of Sales

    Forwarded from an Avid employee:

    Hello everyone,

I am delighted to announce that on Monday, July 14th Martin Vann will be joining the Avid Customer Operations group as Vice President of Sales and Service - Video.

Martin is an accomplished sales, marketing and operations executive with more than 20 years of combined experience in the software and media industry and a consistent track record of meeting and exceeding revenue goals. Martin joins us from Autodesk, Inc. where he was most recently Vice President of Worldwide Sales, Media and Entertainment. During his six and half years at Autodesk, revenue for the Media and Entertainment division grew from $150M to $260M, an increase of more than 75%. Prior to Autodesk, Martin held senior sales and leadership positions at Digital Media on Demand, IFILM, eMotion and XL/Datacomp, Inc. and IBM. Some of you may recall that Martin was an employee of Avid in the early 90’s. During this time, Martin was instrumental in establishing the company's business in Los Angeles. His strong leadership skills combined with his expertise in communication, change management, acquisitions, growth environments, and business turnarounds will be instrumental to our transformation and the execution of our strategy.

At the same time, I also want to thank Kathy Power for her hard work and dedication and the superb foundation she helped to build at Avid. During her tenure at Avid Kathy is credited with the establishment of ALEX: Avid’s customer online learning system as well as the Remote Response concept. She also spearheaded the creation of the Enterprise Organization dedicated to selling and servicing Avid’s largest customers.

I am excited to have Martin join the Customer Operations team and look forward to his energy, enthusiasm and insights. Please join me in welcoming Martin back to Avid and wishing Kathy every success in the future.

    • Finally! Avid hires someone with Industry experience! Mr. Vann is an accomplished professional with vast experience in the M&E Industry. Is it enough to offset the CEO, GM, Director of WW Channel Programs and VP Of Customer Happiness lack of experience? Probably not, but then again Avid's board continues to defy logic - as well as their customers needs!!!

It's one thing to hire executives who lack industry experience, it's another to hire executives that come from companies (DEC, Lucent, etc.) that completely fell apart. Could be a case of "Too Little - Too Late" - we shall see
