Larry Smith and NWBO have both written/claimed the following "introducing autologously derived dendritic cells not pre-loaded with antigens directly into inoperable tumors, have produced disappointing results". I would like some clarification on this, does this mean that positive results were obtained in animal studies and then failed in humans? Or that the results were disappointing in animals and not even pursued in humans. I think this would be extremely important in terms of substantiating the claims that they (NWBO) have figured it out (the secret sauce). LOL
All it means is there were other trials with DC cells that failed. Look at it like this, there is more than one way to do just about everything, some ways work, some don't. There are many publications about DC cells, how powerful they CAN be and the many different ways they have been tested, getting them to do what you want is the trick to making this work. We will find in short order if NWBO found that combination. Having MD Anderson agreeing to do the trial goes a long way in my book to validation of DC cells and NWBO rather than having "bob's discount cancer center and title loans" do the study.
Austin there have been other trials just Google intra tumural injection matured dendritic cell. There was at least trial where the results were encouraging. You have to remember these people have no other option. So what you are looking for in terms of tumor regression is something very small, that in and of itself would be encouraging. Like I said this is a long shot but of course if it works then the whole game has changed. Just don't bet the farm.
