US Reconsiders Pacific Coal Exports as Consumption Rises in India, Japan
"...At the same time, some US politicians are calling for more coal rules, specifically regarding coal exports.
Democratic governors John Kitzhaber of Oregon and Jay Inslee of Washington want the government to consider denying permits for Pacific coal export terminals, according to Bloomberg.
In a letter to the White House Council of Environmental Quality, the governors said that a federal review of the export facilities must look not only at local environmental impacts, but also at the greenhouse gas effects of American coal burned for power in places like Asia.
That’s certainly the place to watch, as Asian demand continues to eat up slack in the global thermal coal market."
These clowns masquerading as politicians will do everyrthing in their power to destroy our economy. Their logic is so flawed- don't they realize if the US isn't allowed to export more coal some other country will step in and do the job???? I feel sorry for any American that votes for these clownish "progressives."
Why don't we just establish a government agency to determine exactly what goods and services we produce and control supply to consumers (worldwide). Does this sound familiar to Russia, China, etc???? Our political leaders are simply not supporting the interests of the people, nor are they anywhere close to "serving." The coal issue symbolizes something much bigger in play here! All we are going to have pretty soon in this country are doctors and patients, and nothing else in our GDP.
Yes there are coal export tterminals on the east coast. The author failed to mention that the coal export terminals on the west coast of Canada are being upgraded to increase their export capacity abt 50 %.
