Spencer, Idaho is only 140 miles from Butte, Montana.
I have traded in and out of NAK, long and short, who is JVed with Anglo American on the Pebble Mine in SW Alaska. The reserves are world class, absolutely HUGE, but there are environmental issues in a earthquake prone area with major Salmon runs threatened should something go wrong.
Anglo American has pledge 1.5 Billion in Project costs for their 50% share, so there is lots on the line for them as well as NAK.
in the case of NAK, I am in agreement with the greenies in that a mine should not be developed due to the potential of harm to the environment there but it was a conclusion I came to a bit later as I learned more about the issues involved.
In the case of TLR there are no issues noted except for road use and the inconvenience to drivers and folks that live on the road and as you noted George, site development is practically complete. So it is my opinion that the final go-ahead will go thru as planned and yes the greenies could do the old stall tactics play but in the end given rational minds prevail, the mine will come on line but I don't think they will challenge it as they have to pick their fights intelligently as well.
