Bogus competition - Best of 20. The forward PE ratio is a better indicator...
When you apply to Harvard or Stamford or any Ivy League School, there's open competition between every student in America who chooses to apply. That's tens of thousands of possible competitors. They all take the SATs or ACTs.
The "Smartest Company in America" had only 20 entrants. Best of 20. A whole 20? That's less than one homeroom class in one school in one city in one state.
I watch this competition winner how it trades each year on the announcement. Du Pont won a few years ago. The joke is to outsource competition questions to a call center in India. They are answered by competitors, not by an outsource contractor. Maybe the smartest members of the staff will use the credential to leave with winner company. In that sense this competition can hurt the winner. It risks causing a brain drain.
