SKUL [FREE Stock Trend Analysis]) named Hoby Darling as CEO, which is unlikely to quiet talks about the company being acquired any time soon.
In fact, naming Darling CEO will likely increase the takeover chatter, according to Sean Naughton, an analyst at Piper Jaffray. He believes Darling's previous experience at Nike (NYSE: NKE) and Volcom will further fuel the speculation that Skullcandy will be a viable takeover candidate for other tech companies.
Specifically, Naughton emphasized Darling's "no stranger" from mergers and acquisitions, citing his time at Volcom where the company went public in 2005 and was sold in 2011 to PPR. Also interesting was his time at Nike, where the company sold Umbro and Cole Haan, both of which were under Darling's watch.
