I've been in the bedding business for a long time, I see Tempur-Pedic getting crushed by Serta's I-Comfort bed & now everyone & their brother is in the "conture foam" business. If TPX didn't close the their deal with Sealy "which was on the verge of bankruptcy" in March, just b/4 their the end of their Q1 ,they would have missed BIG on EPS &
revenues. Now their conference call says they are shipping a huge amount of floor samples to retailers in Q2, but at a low margin for floor display & the lower margins will be reflected in that Q2.. after the margins were already low in Q1.. Plus TPX had a large stock buy back in Q1 , I presume to enhance their EPS for Q1.
I sleep on a Cloud Supreme, which I bought 3 years ago & I love it... but I just bought a Serta I-Comfort bed for my son 4 months ago & at a 65% reduction in cost.... I just can't see the forward growth for TPX.
I am thinking due to reduced EPS projection for 2013? Tempur-Pedic International, Inc. sees FY2013 EPS of $2.75, versus the consensus of $2.94. Tempur-Pedic International, Inc. sees FY2013 revenue of $2.5 billion, versus the consensus of $2.58 billion.
