what have we got? Coal, gas and nukes. Dirty, expensive and inefficient. We've got the need to build vast electric grids in third world countries. We've got wars based on robbing resources -- didn't the two Oil Wars in Iraq teach us anything about how expensive and futile resource theft is? You guys who are so happy with the collapsing solar sector should think about that and not so much about the chump change you make by shorting. You loot will soon be gone and you will be worse off because solar, once trashed, will be really hard to resurrect.
solar just won't die....there have been so much improvements in these last years that it is yes viable. with an ROI of 5 years for the average a household, it is simply a good investment actually.
Obviously, however there is concern on LDK's survival and who talks for certain way or another is just full of cow right now....there are too many variables in place. certainly the high debt is not nice in this environment but i am taking my risks and wont sell anyway
The solar is not going to die. I have no doubt LDK will survive. However, the question is, will the current LDK shareholders survive? I hope they restructure LDK without such a drastic measure. If Chinese government is so serious about the solar energy as they seem to be they should be able to find an easy solution acceptable to all parties involved. For example, to meet the aggressive targets they set for solar they could award some big PV projects to LDK and pay them up front (50 to 100%). I am sure there are other solutions but we will have to wait and see. I am still holding and in fact, I have added some more shares. I know there is a risk but I am still optimistic.
