    45 Million Un-Insured??

    1. 14 Million are on Medicade and SCHIP
    2. 12 Million are Illegal Immigrents
    3. 9 Million have Incomes> $75-K per year
and choose not to spend their money on
    healthcare Insurance

45 Million Un-Insured? I think it's closer to 10 Million Un-Insured. Do we need to completely overhual our existing health care system for 10 Million people??

    • Like I said my husband is with the Va, he also has a private insurance company, BC/BS. We are just lucky that we can afford both. A lot of the people in our age group just can't do that. What we need is a better government health care system. Did you notice on the news today that some of the supervisor's with the VA got hugh bonus's, what goes. When they are denying some of our troops coverage. You think this is a fair system.

    • No, Medicare is not going broke,at least not now anyway, it just does not cover everything, and to have complete coverage you need additional insurance. When you first are eligible for Medicare they even tell you to get additional insurance to be completely covered.

My aunt lived in Canada, and they have Socialized Medicine, which Obama is trying to have us get into. I don't care what he says, it still is a form of Socialized Medicine. Well anyway, the government paid for your insurance, but to get any kind of decent care you had to take out an additional policy. When you need an operation you are put on a waiting list, is that the kind of Health Insurance we want in this country. What we should have is more competition in the Health Insurance industry.

    • Forgot to mention: needless to say, my neighbor isn't my neighbor any more. She lost her home and faced financial ruin. But she saved her son. Now that Obama has taken over here, she can bet her sweet bippy that both her son and his progency will be paying thru the nose for all of this reckless stimulus spending well into the next 30 years.

Does anyone else find it supremely ironic when these America-haters use the Internet to try and lecture us on the evils of the US government?....I do, it is the acorn bunch and black panthers and all of Obama's folks that want to keep the "poor widdle me abused black folk stories" going in order to divide America!

Do they not realize that the Internet itself was conceived and developed by US government workers and originally funded by US government dollars? That is a baldfaced lie. Everyone knows that it was Al Gore that invented the internet. Thank God , Al is now blowing hot air all over the planet and calling it global warming!

Do they not understand how many millions of jobs and hundreds of billions of dollars in new wealth were created by that one single US government initiative? You know it mostly as: wearing out the money printing equipment by printing trillions of worthless paper dollars that are backed bv nothing but our ability to borrow money from Red China (who would kick our ass in a second, if we didnt buy the sweatshop items that they ship ver here)

    • dgoebel: I guess that you don't have medicare. Those of us on Medicare also buy a supplemental policy to cover what Medicare does not. Some tests are completely covered by Medicare. Medicare never completely covered the cost. It does make Health Insurance a lot cheaper than without the coverage.

    • The only supplement that we will need after the Nation Healtcare goes into effect is billions of trillions of condoms because EVERYBODY is going to get fuked on this deal!

    • Nobody needs supplemental coverage. It is certainly something nice that you can buy if you want to and you can afford it.

But everybody needs catastrophic coverage. We can't afford to keep allowing people to show up at the ER with a catastrophic claim and no insurance or other means to pay for it.

That cost just gets passed on to those of us who were responsible and played by the rules and is one of the primary reasons why health care here costs so much more here than it does anywhere else in the world.

So how much supplement will we need after we agree to National HC? And will the poor, unemployed, elderly, etc... be able to afford the supplement. btw...Why does she need a supplement after paying into it for 50 years?

    • I live in a small community that has lots of retirees. This means that most of the patients are on Medicare. We don't have enough doctors because they don't feel they get paid enough by the Medicare system. Now I'm actually in favor of universal coverage but I think that whatever our elected officials come up with they should be under the same system. It also needs tort reform and illegal immigrants should not be covered. Also if everyone is covered then everyone needs to be paying for it.

    • Medicare ain't gonna go broke. It's too popular to die. We just need to find the courage to pay for it, along with a way to moderate the out-of-control increases in health care costs.

Getting everybody covered is an excellent first step, spread the risk and keep people from showing up in the ER on the verge of death, without any insurance or any visible means to pay for what is certain to be very expensive treatments.

We all end up paying when that happens.

And the decision to buy supplemental private coverage is a personal one, to each his or her own. As with all insurance you're just betting against yourself...hoping you spend more on covered services than you do on supplemental coverage. As such, supplemental is not really necessary for all--but certainly a good bet for some.
