    Schwab finally got it right

I know that you will all be relieved to hear that just 18 days after the spin-off, Schwab finally managed to get the number of ABBV shares and the cost basis for both ABT and ABBV correctly entered into the "unrealized capital gain/loss" page of my account. Been with Schwab for years, but beginning to think of moving - this was just weirdly incompetent on their part.

    • I know this is very late to reply but I owned ABT for a long time and the "unrealized capital gain/loss" section of Schwab showed "please provide". Can you look up your numbers and tell me the % cost ratio used?

      • The original ABT total cost basis was reassigned as 48% ABT and 52% ABBV. If you bought the original ABT shares through Schwab, they should have done it for you. But if they have the dreaded "please provide" on there, I'm guessing you transferred the shares in from somewhere else. Schwab may or may not let you enter the figures - I've never been able to understand that part of the system.
