Bigotry is not "un-American", nor does it have a uniquely American or conservative pedigree; we all know about Hillary's feelings towards the jews. The media seldom reminds us that the three civil rights activists killed in Mississippi attempting to reverse the plights of black people there were registered Republicans.
So how do we know when affirmative action is no longer necessary? How do we know when the playing feild is level? When Yoko Ono finally DOES get everyone to hold hands across America singing 'We Are The World'?
I prefer the standards of law to your utopian vision. Equal treatment under the law cannot coexist with affirmative action. Conservatives may prevail on this issue, but the ramifications of their victory will be decidely liberal in the classical sense.
